Darrell Uptegraft was born in Michigan, but lived in many parts of the country on wildlife refuges with his father who was a refuge manager for the Federal Government. Darrell attended San Francisco State University marine biology program. After exploring his interest in science, Darrell set his sights on law school and enrolled in the University of Puget Sound School of Law.

Darrell started clerking for Ryan Sells Uptegraft, Inc. P.S. in 1981 and continued to clerk for the firm while attending law school. Darrell joined Ryan Sells Uptegraft, Inc. P.S., as an associate attorney. Darrell is now a full partner and managing partner of the firm. He has had broad experience during his career, but has focused his practice in the area of plaintiff's personal injury.

Darrell is an Eagle member of the Washington State Trial Lawyer's Association and an active member of the Kitsap County Bar Association, serving as its President in 1999. As the Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce, Darrell also enjoys community service.

Darrell lives in the Bremerton area with his wife Kacey. Darrel and Kacey are avid gardeners and landscapers who also enjoy snow skiing and boating when they are not otherwise out digging in the dirt.
